About the Author
Siobhan Wall is a writer and artist. She initially studied at Cambridge University, followed by a degree in Fine Art at Central St Martin's College of Art and Design, and an MA (Distinction) in Visual Culture at Middlesex University, London. Siobhan has worked as a senior lecturer, teaching photography, cultural studies, video production and fine art for over ten years at universities in London and Oxford.The author of numerous articles on contemporary art published by international journals (Eyemazing, Framework, Ceramics Art and Perception, etc.), more recently Siobhan has curated group exhibitions for British museums and galleries. Her paintings have also been included in group shows at the Whitechapel Art Gallery and the ICA, London and she has two works in the permanent collection of women's art at New Hall, Cambridge.Siobhan is the author of Quiet Amsterdam (9780711233423) and Quiet London (9780711231900).

Neat Little Book

This is a neat, compact, little 2013 book, with nice photographs on each page, along with very concise descriptions of places that are very interesting -- some familiar to me, many not. I will be certain to visit several on my next trip to Paris. This is a book for people who love, or can love, Paris. It is quiet in its appearance, in its presentation and in its choice of quiet parts of Paris. It is not a book for people on a whirlwind tour nor those who do not understand why people visit Paris for more than 2 days. It has an index arranged by arrondissement, as well as a table of contents.

Excellent guide to calm in Paris

I live in Paris and love this guide to calm and quiet places in this wonderful but crowded city. I was delighted to learn of many spots I didn't already know (and I've been in Paris for 29 years). Very well-researched and organized by types of places, such as small museums, tea rooms, boutiques, gardens, hotels and much more, "Quiet Paris" tells you where, when and how to visit the settings so charmingly described and beautifully photographed. This is a must for any library or lover of Paris.

Another side of Paris

This is a lovely little series. As a tourism professional and travel writer who knows a great deal about the city and guidebook offerings, I found this book to be a nice change. It is for the discerning traveler looking to get off the beaten path and experience the real city. I like the format, it's compact, but beautifully presented. It's almost less of a guide than a hidden window into the city and would be even great to peruse even when not actually visiting the city.
